34 Ontario street renovation pt. 2

After some further collaboration with Pamela and Jeremy I have some more progress shots of the renovations at 34 Ontario street, my new showroom location and Pamela's new La Osa location.

The first day we were in there working was December 27th, and work was very full time for Pamela and Jeremy, fairly part time for me, and we had lots of help from family and very skilled friends along the way. The overall intention being that we have a place to showcase our work, and we want a place for Stratford and its visitors to not only shop, but also lounge and take in a part of Stratford’s history. The restored millwork in combination with new products, new layout and remodeled space were very carefully planned and selected. I have put a lot of work into this space, but it dwarfs in comparison to the hard work and planning done by Pamela and Jeremy.

Hold on tight until we open!

Seen here is the carpet (now removed), remnants of the slat wall and the faux paneling. You can see some of the millwork we uncovered at the top.

Behind that corner mirror there was still two small pieces of the original wainscoting trim. With that I was able to replicate about 150’ in oak to recover where it was removed

A very dusty job pulling up the old carpet. After it was up and the subfloor cleaned, all of the subflooring was screwed down, the nails set, and then levelled and sanded.

You can see by the change in color where the wainscoting trim was removed. This also shows the floor leveled, sanded and prepared for the adhesive.

Brand new beautiful flooring! This shows the same portion of the space seen in the photo with the corner mirror. What a difference!

Here they are painted and with the light fixtures installed. Ample space to change and some great vintage chairs and rugs!

The large cutout arches of the change room were made into this screen with the purpose of sectioning off Pamela's workspace and as a backdrop to show off her stock of groovy vintage clothes.

In my next blog post I'll show progress and finished shots of the pieces I have on display, as well as some permanent fixtures and finally the fully laid out and finished space.
